Our Rooms & Daily Routine
At Heathcot Preschool, we believe that care and education go hand in hand. We provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow and develop through play, exploration and positive relationships.
Our daily routines and experiences are carefully planned to:
- Help every child feel valued, respected and included.
- Promote children's safety, wellbeing and emotional security.
- Support children in developing confidence, independence and resilience.
- Encourage positive relationships and friendships.
- Provide rich opportunities for learning through play and meaningful experiences.
- Foster a lifelong love of learning.
Our Classes
Caterpillars (0–2 Years)
Our Caterpillars class provides a warm, caring and secure environment for our youngest children. We recognise that babies and toddlers learn best through responsive interactions, sensory exploration and play.
Practitioners work closely with families to follow children's individual routines, including sleep, feeding and care needs. Activities are designed to support early communication, physical development, social skills and curiosity about the world around them.
Butterflies (3–4 Years)
Our Butterflies class supports children as they become confident, independent learners and prepare for their next stage of education.
Children enjoy a balance of child-initiated play and adult-led experiences that promote all areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Activities encourage creativity, communication, problem-solving, early literacy and mathematics skills, whilst ensuring learning remains fun, engaging and meaningful.
Our Daily Routine
We organise our sessions to allow children plenty of opportunities to explore, investigate and learn through play. Children can access a wide range of activities and resources both indoors and outdoors, helping them to develop confidence, independence and decision-making skills.
Throughout the day, children participate in:
- Child-led play and exploration
- Small group and whole group activities
- Story and rhyme sessions
- Creative and sensory experiences
- Outdoor learning and physical play
- Early language, literacy and mathematics opportunities
- Social and emotional development activities
Our practitioners carefully observe children's interests and developmental needs to ensure experiences are engaging, challenging and tailored to each child.
Outdoor Learning
We recognise the importance of outdoor play in supporting children's health, wellbeing and development. Children have daily access to outdoor learning opportunities where they can develop their physical skills, explore nature, investigate the world around them and take managed risks in a safe environment.
Outdoor learning is viewed as an extension of our indoor provision, with opportunities available across all areas of learning.
Snacks & Lunchtime
Healthy eating is an important part of life at Heathcot Preschool.
We provide healthy morning and afternoon snacks, along with fresh drinking water and milk where appropriate. Snack times are valued social occasions where children and practitioners sit together, encouraging conversation, independence and positive eating habits.
Children attending for a full day are required to bring a healthy packed lunch from home. We ask parents to provide a nutritious lunch that supports their child's health and wellbeing. Please inform us of any dietary requirements, allergies or cultural preferences so that we can ensure your child's needs are fully met.
Our staff promote good hygiene practices and support children in developing independence during snack and mealtimes.
